The Tiramisu’, also known as “Tuscan Trifle” is a cool and refreshing mocha flavoured creamy dessert that originated in Siena, province of Tuscany, Italy in the 19th Century. Legend has it that Venice’s courtesans loved Tiramisu’ as it gave them strength for their romantic encounters.The dessert boomed in Treviso, was eventually moved to England and the States with its popularity growing to most restaurants throughout the world.
Tiramisu’, literally translated means ‘ pick me up’ ….the basic ingredients are mascarpone cheese, savoiardi, whipped cream, strong espresso coffee, eggs and marsala wine…. all covered in cocoa dustings and chocolate decor.
